Barbara Clement
Church Secretary
Public Relations & Publicity

In 1983 when my husband Bob and I moved into the Seacoast Area we were looking for a church to attend. We visited First UMC of Portsmouth and received such a warm welcome we decided this would be our church. Shortly after we became members, I was offered the position of Church Secretary. With the exception of 16 months when we resided in Florida, I have been in this position for 19 years. I worked for many years doing office work in several business which my husband and I owned greenhouses and a flower shop, insurance and real estate which also
included the Town Clerk’s Office. I also worked part time in the Tax Collectors office.

I have a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of successfully completing a Professional Church Secretary workshop. I enjoy working in the church office and am truly blessed to be a part of First UMC church family.

Kenneth Westbrook
Custodian/Head Usher and Coordinator

On April 1, 1993 a wonderful event happened to me. I became the custodian of the First United Methodist Church of Portsmouth. It has been a labor-of-love ever since. True, it's a large building with much ground to maintain, but thanks to a great deal of help from my loving wife, Jenya, we somehow muddle through.

In addition, I enjoy serving as Head Usher, and am currently a member of the Nominating, Worship, and Trustee Committees.

With God's blessing and continued good health, I hope to continue my efforts for this truly special Church family.
